Presenters:
Koby Amankwah
My name is Koby Amankwah and I am entering my second year of medical school at Weill Cornell Medicine (Class of 2023). I grew up in Alberta, Canada where I spent the majority of my life, but my family and I moved to Tampa, Florida about nine years ago where I have been residing ever since. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) where I double majored in Biology and Chemistry and was part of the Chancellor’s Science Scholars program. After graduating with honors in 2019, I matriculated straight through into medical school. At Weill Cornell Medicine, I am involved in several different extracurriculars, which include the Health Profession Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP) and the Black and Latino Men in Medicine Program, where I mentor motivated high school students. I am also involved in Heart-to-Heart, an outreach program that provides free diabetes and cardiovascular disease screening to underserved populations. In the future, I hope to specialize in Radiation Oncology and treat prostate cancer patients.
Tahj Blow
My name is Tahj Blow, and I am a second year medical student from the class of 2023. I graduated Yale University in 2016 with a degree in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and did academic research in the three years I spent between undergrad and medical school. I currently hope to practice as an ethicist and oncologist in communities of color, and I have spent the past year exploring those spaces through various clubs and school initiatives. Most recently, I have become a general member of the WCM Anti-Racism Task Force, contributed to a successful push for WCM to cover more third-party services and testing fees for students of all levels, and become a mentor for other premedical students developing their applications now.
