Menopause Informational and Resource Webpage

Weill Cornell Medicine strongly supports legislation (A.9304 / S.8543) directing the New York State Department of Health to establish and maintain a dedicated informational and resource webpage on perimenopause, menopause, and related conditions. The legislation would help ensure that the millions of New Yorkers experiencing menopause have access to a convenient, reliable, and publicly available resource to guide them through this significant health transition.

It is estimated that 6,000 people enter menopause every single day in the United States, with menopause typically occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. In New York State alone, over one million women fall within the menopause age range. Despite the prevalence of this natural biological transition, those experiencing menopausal symptoms often do not seek support or discuss their experience due to prevailing stigmas, lack of awareness, and an absence of easily accessible public resources. This gap in information leaves many individuals without the guidance they need to manage symptoms and make informed decisions about their care.
