Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act (H.R. 3876)

The Access to Genetic Counselor Services Act (H.R. 3876) would enable Medicare to recognize genetic counselors as providers and cover reimbursement for their services. The legislation would improve Medicare patient care as research demonstrates that when certified genetic counselors are part of the care team, they help ensure the right test is ordered for the right patient at the right time. This has resulted in reducing inappropriate genetic test orders and lowering overall healthcare costs. Weill Cornell Medicine supports this piece of legislation.
